Mark at The Art League

The September show at The Art League Gallery in the Torpedo Factory "Mark" was juried by DC artist Charles Jean-Pierre. My piece "Design and Creation" was accepted and awarded with an Honorable Mention.

This is my second honorable mention of the year from The Art League (I also got one for my piece The Artist's Studio V in June) and I still can't believe it. It's just an honor to be accepted into a juried show.

New collection: Tables & Flowers!

I am so excited to share my newest collection with you all!
It's called "Tables & Flowers," and every painting in the series, ranging from florals to interiors to tablescapes, features one or both of those items.

This series was really an exploration of color and medium. I used Flashe vinyl paint in every painting (along with acrylics and wax crayon), and I had so much fun working with the paints.

The vinyl paint operates very similarly to acrylic paint, but it dries with a soft, velvety texture (whereas acrylics are slightly glossy and shiny upon drying). The colors are AMAZING and they mix with acrylics really well.

 Seated 8 - 16x20"

Seated 5 - 8x10"

This series has 17 paintings, ranging in size from 8x8" to 24x30".

Part of this collection includes some tablescape paintings. I had SO much fun with these, from designing the tabletop to choosing the featured meal.

Cake and Tarts - 11x14"

 Coffee and Eggs - 10x10"

I also did a couple of larger pieces

 Dream Room 7 - 24x30"

I've been busy in the studio the past month working on new cards & prints and a new painting collection, the latter of which will be released on Tuesday, August 29th.

I also have added several upcoming shows & events to my schedule for the Fall and Winter (see tab at top of page).

Here's a look into my studio and a little sneak peek of the paintings for the upcoming release!

"Perspective" at The Art League

In June my piece "The Artist's Studio V" was accepted into The Art League's juried show entitled "Perspective" at The Torpedo Factory.

I was honored to find out that my painting was awarded Honorable Mention!

Show notes from the juror David Carter:

"Jennifer Allevato’s The Artist’s Studio, “nicely echoes Matisse’s The Red Studio and it’s flattened perspective. The viewer is looking in at the studio, and there’s a painting on the easel that artist is creating of the studio. The artist has provided us with several different perspectives.”

Unfortunately, the opening was so crowded that I didn't get any other photos of the show. My bad.

It was a great show, though!
Thanks to the Art League!

100 day project update: days 51-60

Below are days 51 - 60 of my 100 Day Project: 100 Days of Gouache Book.
See previous updates here here, here, here, and here

Guys, I am so behind in sharing these updates... forgive me.

I got back to my roots with some florals and also threw in some landscape studies for a large painting I was working on. I also completed a couple of these while traveling, which I'd like to call a win (despite working with limited resources, time, and workspace; even if they aren't my favorite works).
