Sheep

Jason and I have a ridiculous inside joke about sheep.

(We were visiting the grounds of Mount Vernon - ya know, G. Washington's home - one day, strolling the lovely gardens and orchards and viewing the animals. Jason wanted to pet a ginormous sheep chilling in a pen who had not yet been sheared for the summer. He wasn't sure if the sheep would mind the petting, but I told him that the sheep probably wouldn't even be able to feel it beyond all the wool... so Jason just dove in, grabbed a hunk of wool, and squeezed it. It was hilarious, the sheep didn't even move (he was not hurt, I promise), and now we call squeezing fluffy things (like blankets, towels, the cats) "sheeping."  .....Aren't you glad you stuck around for all that??)

Anywho, I found these awesomely fluffy sheep at Bath and Bodyworks, of all places, and did a little DIY on them to make a funny and sentimental ornament.

They were sold singly, so I bought two, took the bow off one (to make a manly sheep), tied them together, and added a handmade tag that says "ewe & me 2012." (yay puns)

My mom always gets us an ornament each year that represents something significant from that year. I have always loved the tradition and have started it with Jason (and I think it's more interesting to look at an ornament of, say, an orange cat riding a scooter and think "oh, this is from the year I adopted Red and he was a very rambunctious kitten and would zoom around the house" than to just look at a red sphere that says "2006" and try to remember what the heck happened).

So here's to 2012 -- it's been a fun year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
