Now in the shop - new hand-painted ornaments!
Each is original and one of a kind. Since I was making several at a time, it was most efficient to paint them in stages (background, words, underpainting, then final layers).
I really enjoyed making these - I am loving the metallic paint on the black backgrounds. The high-contrast is really fun and adds a very "holiday" feel to everything. I even bought a book on flowers to study for the floral elements.
Best thing about painted flowers? I can't kill them! (I have what they call a "black thumb.")
I am working on more mini-canvases, too, which can be hung with a larger grouping of pieces on the wall as art, or can be used as ornaments.
I'd like to say that my flowers were influenced by the giant roses on the walls of The Greenbrier Casino (what up, Carleton Varney?)
(photo from here)
but my simpler forms don't quite belong on the walls of a gorgeous resort casino... yet....
